1. About this Policy


At HungerLink, we don't consider user data privacy a legal hassle to oblige to. Instead, we recognize privacy as an essential building block of the Internet of today and tomorrow.


  • The HungerLink mobile app as a user
  • The HungerLink admin console as a user
  • Other HungerLink services which include a link to this Privacy Policy (e.g. HungerLink websites, Customer Support portal, etc.).
  • From here on, we'll collectively call these the "HungerLink Service".

From time to time, we may develop new or offer additional services. They'll also be subject to this Policy, unless stated otherwise when we introduce them.

This Policy is not the HungerLink Terms of Use. That's a separate document, outlining the legal contract between you and HungerLink for using the HungerLink Service. It also describes the rules of HungerLink and your user rights.


2. Definitions


For the purposes of this document:.

  • Account means a unique account created for you to access the HungerLink service or parts of it.
  • Application or App means the software program(s) provided by HungerLink service downloaded by you on any electronic device.
  • Device means any device that can access the HungerLink service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.
  • Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
  • Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the HungerLink. It refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by HungerLink to facilitate the service, to perform tasks related to the service or to assist in analyzing how the service is used.
  • Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the service or from the service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
  • You means the individual accessing or using the service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the service, as applicable.

3. Your rights


Privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), give rights to individuals over their personal data.

  • Access -- It is your right to be informed of the personal data we process about you and to request access.
  • Rectification -- It is your right to request that we amend or update your personal data where it’s inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erasure -- It is your right to request that we delete certain of your personal data.
  • Object -- It is your right to object to us processing your personal data at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation.
  • Utilize -- It is your right to request a copy of your personal data in electronic format and the right to transmit that personal data for use in another party’s service.

You can contact HungerLink to exercise your rights at any time (see Section 13 'How to contact us').


You also have the right to contact your local data protection authority about any questions or concerns.


4. Your personal data


4.1 User data


This is personal data that we need to create your HungerLink account which enables you to use the HungerLink Service.

  • Your email address
  • Your name
  • Your geographical region - this includes country, state/province and city
  • Your language

Notes:

  • We receive some of this data from you e.g. from the sign up form or account page.
  • We may also collect some of this data from your device e.g. country.
  • We may ask for your street address for reasons like checking your eligibility for a service option or delivering physical goods

4.2 Usage data


This is data collected through your use of the HungerLink Service.

  • dates and times
  • search queries
  • your associations with organizations
  • your service usage preferences
  • account settings
  • your use of third party services, devices and applications in connection with the HungerLink Service
  • Inferences (i.e., our understanding) of your interests and preferences based on your usage of the HungerLink Service

4.3 Technical data


This type of data is collected as part of running application(s) that form the HungerLink Service:

  • URL information
  • Online identifiers such as cookie data and IP addresses
  • Information about the devices you use such as:

    • device IDs
    • device sensor data - motion-generated or orientation-generated mobile sensor data (e.g. accelerometer or gyroscope) if needed to provide features that require this data
    • network connection type (e.g. wifi, 4G, LTE, Bluetooth)
    • provider
    • network and device performance
    • browser type
    • language
    • information enabling digital rights management
    • operating system
    • HungerLink application version

5. Our purpose for using your personal data


We may use personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our service, including to monitor the usage of our service.
  • To manage your account and your registration as a user of the service.
  • For the performance of a contract when it's necessary for HungerLink (or a third party) to process your personal data to comply with obligations under a contract with you, e.g. HungerLink's obligations under the Terms of Use to provide the service to you, or verify information before a new contract with you begins.
  • To contact You: by email or other equivalent forms of electronic communication, such as a mobile application's push notifications regarding updates or informative communications related to the functionalities, products or contracted services, including the security updates, when necessary or reasonable for their implementation.
  • To provide you with news, offers and general information about other goods, services and events which we may offer in future unless you have opted not to receive such information.
  • To manage your requests that you may make at any time during your usage of the service and which are in relation to your personal data or your usage of the service.
  • Compliance with Legal Obligations when HungerLink must process your personal data to comply with a law.


6. Sharing your personal data


We may share Your personal information in the following situations:


    With Service Providers: We may share your personal information with service providers to monitor and analyze the use of HungerLink Service. These service providers may include those we hire to:

    • give customer support
    • operate the technical infrastructure we need to provide the HungerLink Service
    • assist in protecting and securing our systems and services (e.g. Google’s reCAPTCHA)
    • help market HungerLink’s (and our partners’) products, services, events and promotions


    Academic researchers: For activities such as statistical analysis and academic study, but only in a pseudonymised format. Pseudonymised data is where your data is identified by a code rather than your name or other information that directly identifies you.

    Law enforcement and other authorities: When we believe in good faith it’s necessary for us to do so. For example:

    • to comply with a legal obligation
    • to respond to a valid legal process (such as a search warrant, court order, or subpoena)
    • for our own or a third party’s justifiable interest, relating to:
      • national security
      • law enforcement
      • litigation (a court case)
      • criminal investigation
      • protecting someone’s safety
      • preventing death or imminent bodily harm

7. Data retention and deletion


Retention


We keep your personal data only as long as necessary to provide you with the HungerLink Service and for legitimate and essential business purposes, such as:

  • maintaining the performance of the service
  • making data-driven decisions about new features and offerings
  • complying with our legal obligations
  • resolving disputes

We retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of the service, or when we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.


Deletion


If you close or request that we close your account, we'll delete or anonymise your personal data so it no longer identifies you, unless we're required to keep something or we still need to use it for a legally justifiable reason.


Here are some examples of situations where we're legally allowed or required to keep some of your personal data:


  • if there's an unresolved issue relating to your account, such as an outstanding credit or unresolved claim or dispute
  • for our legal, tax, audit and accounting obligations
  • for our legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention or to maintain security.

8. Transfer of your personal data


Your information, including personal data, is processed at the our operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. It means that this information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws are not considered to be as strong as EU laws or the laws which apply where you live.


Whenever we transfer personal data internationally, we use tools to:


  • make sure the data transfer complies with applicable law
  • help to give your data the same level of protection as it has in the EU

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.


We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your personal data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place.


9. Keeping your personal data safe


We're committed to protecting our users' personal data. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to help protect the security of your personal data. However, be aware that no system is ever completely secure.


We have implemented various safeguards including pseudonymization, encryption, access, and retention policies to guard against unauthorized access and unnecessary retention of personal data in our systems.


If other individuals have access to your HungerLink account (for example if you've given them permission to use your account on a shared device), then they can access personal data, controls and the service available in your account.


It's your responsibility to only provide individuals with permission to use your account where you're comfortable sharing this personal data with them.


10. Children


The HungerLink Service has a minimum "Age Limit" in each country. The HungerLink Service is not directed to children whose age:

  • is under the age of 13 years
  • or, makes it illegal to process their personal data
  • or, requires parental consent to process their personal data

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the applicable Age Limit. If you're under the Age Limit, please do not use the HungerLink Service, and do not provide any personal data to us.


If you're a parent of a child under the Age Limit and become aware that your child has provided personal data to HungerLink, please contact us.


If we learn that we've collected the personal data of a child under the applicable Age Limit, we'll take reasonable steps to delete the personal data. This may require us to delete the HungerLink account for that child.


11. Changes to this Policy


We may occasionally make changes to this Policy.


When we make material changes to this Policy, we'll provide you with prominent notice as appropriate under the circumstances. For example, we may display a prominent notice within the HungerLink Service or send you an email or device notification.


12. Links to Other Websites


Our service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site.


We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
